On the reality of feminist engagement at the UN Climate Change Conference

The UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow in November 2021 was another opportunity to bring gender equality into the discussion on climate justice. Two young women from the global South report from the conference.


The COP is quite a daunting experience. It can feel exclusive as everyone is rushing around, doing something, constantly attending side events, talking to the media or following negotiations. As young women from the global South, it was refreshing to see many young people at the COP. Nevertheless, the inclusivity inside and outside the sessions could have done better.
